Let Him Wash You Clean

Have you ever been pulled over? Of course you have. We all have. But, have you ever been pulled over and had absolutely NO idea why? 

This week a wonderful lady of our church family got pulled over. She knew she wasn’t speeding – she just knew she was doing nothing wrong. But, like any other American citizen, she pulled over and prepared for the officer to approach her car. As the officer came to her window she proceeded to say, “Good afternoon Officer, May I ask what I was doing wrong?” The officer proceeded with the most humorous of explanations. He had pulled her over because the tags on her car were so dirty that he could not see him! Only in Wilkes County do you get pulled over for having too dirty of car tags. Let’s be honest, in Wilkes County…living on dirt roads… means that often times we have dirty cars! And, for some of us, this means that our poor cars don’t get washed off until He sends a rain shower our way. 

After many laughs I began to reflect upon this story. I couldn’t help but think about the story, and think about our individual relationships with Him. We are good-for-nothing dirty sinners. Our lives get busy, we make mistakes, and we sin each day….Some days we are so busy that we forget to seek His forgiveness. But, how marvelous is it that just like the rain shower that the Father bestows upon our cars so often, He is right beside us. He is waiting on us to seek Him, so that He can wash us clean. He is not asking us to do anything. We don’t have to do a thing; besides go to Him in prayer and ask for forgiveness. And just like the car, we will be washed new. 

What a loving Father we serve. What a merciful Father we serve. Let Him wash you clean today!
